Acne: The most common skin concern in the UK, yet the cure for acne seems so hard to find.
Let’s begin with the fundamentals. No you don’t have acne because your skin is dirty. Acne can start due to many factors including; genetics, age, hormones and more.
There are also many types of acne and this is why it can be both confusing and frustrating if you are living with acne.
So first of all I’m going to delve into: HORMONAL ACNE. If these symptoms seem familiar; Acne around the jawline and chin, cystic acne and a hormonal imbalance, polycystic ovarias or a hormonal disruption.
Hormonal acne begins when the androgen hormone levels rise, this can trigger an increase in oil, sebum and a colonisation of bacteria, clogging the skin cells.
So what can you do to suppress the hormone causing your acne?
The natural approach: Spearmint leaf tea lowers your androgen levels naturally suppressing testosterone levels and reducing oil and sebum.
Medication: Spironolactone a prescription medication can block androgens and help to control hormonal acne.
Treat: Treat active acne with a retinoid such as Differin gel in the evening and a benzoyl peroxide treatment at night.
In salon: I offer a high frequency facial specifically for targeting acne. This device will zap sebum, oil and acne instantly and the breakouts will forms crust within a few days. This reduces inflammation and keeps your skin clear.
